Meet the Doctors

  • Jonathan Kaufman , DVM- Practice owner


    Dr. Jonathan Kaufman has been the proud owner of Eastern Animal Hospital since 1990. Dr. Kaufman received his undergraduate education from both the University of Maryland and the University of Florida. Then he received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the University of Florida in 1987. His areas of concentration are in small animal and exotic medicine and surgery.

    After graduation, Dr. Kaufman returned to Baltimore, his home, to practice small animal and exotic medicine. In 1990, he purchased Eastern Animal Hospital and within a short time had increased the doctors and staff, expanded the hours of operation and offered a wide variety of veterinary services. In 1998, he rebuilt and modernized the veterinary facility and now offers the benefits of a state-of-the-art hospital to clients. Dr. Kaufman performs many advanced techniques such as orthopedic surgery, minimally invasive procedures, advanced dental care, and laser surgery.

    Dr. Kaufman continues to be a supporting member of the East Baltimore communities. For the past few years he has provided Maryland Animal Advocates free veterinary care for hundreds of feral cats that they rescue. In addition, Eastern Animal Hospital is a sponsor of the new Canton Dog Park and the local SPCA. Dr. Kaufman is a member of numerous veterinary associations.

    Dr. Kaufman enjoys reading novels, automobiles, weight training and family activities with his wife and two daughters.

  • Estelle Ward , DVM


    Dr. Ward received her undergraduate degree in Classics from the University of Virginia in Charklottesville, Virginia. In 1988 she received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. She practiced in upstate New York for eight years prior to joining the staff of Eastern Animal Hospital.

    Dr. Ward's primary interests in veterinary medicine are preventive care and internal medicine. She is devoted to the companion animal-human bond and loves working with pet owners to help their beloved pet friends. She also has a special interest in dental radiology and dental surgery. She has been a member of The Maryland SPCA board of directors since 2002. She is the Board of Directors' veterinary consultant and a member of the shelter operations committee. She also is a member of the American Veterinary Medicine Association.

    Dr. Ward lives on a small farm in Howard County with sheep, miniature donkeys, four large dogs and a cat. She enjoys running, kayaking, classical music and working in her gardens.

  • Susan Warner-Jones , DVM


    Dr. Warner-Jones received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ohio State University, where she received extensive training in companion animal and equine medicine. Dr. Warner-Jones served on the equine trauma team at the 1997 Kentucky Derby. She joined Eastern Animal Hospital in 1999.

    Dr. Warner-Jones exemplifies the Eastern Animal Hospital approach of ‘treating the whole patient' in complex medical cases. She routinely helps pets with a wide variety of surgical and internal medicine problems including:
    Lameness
    Urinary Tract problems
    Tumors
    Gastro-Intestinal problems
    Diabetes
    Skin Problems

    Besides performing surgery and practicing internal medicine, Dr. Warner-Jones offers counseling to clients on selecting an appropriate pet, pet behavior issues, and helping pets successfully lose weight. In addition to treating cats and dogs Dr. Warner-Jones treats other small mammals such as rabbits, rodents, ferrets and guinea pigs.

    Dr. Warner-Jones' interests include knitting and gardening, as well as spending quality time with her husband and three children.

  • Jamie Molinelli , DVM


    Dr Molinelli graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science degree. She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Virgina-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. Her first veterinary position was in a mixed animal practice in rural Pennsylvania. In 1989 she began a 12-year career in veterinary emergency and critical care medicine. She was the senior veterinarian on staff at the Animal Emergency Center until 2001. Dr. Molinelli completed a course in veterinary acupuncture from the Chi Institute in September 2002. Dr. Molinelli's goal is to integrate both Western and Eastern medicine in her daily practice life.

    * American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association
    * American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture

    Dr. Molinelli lives in the Chase area with her pets. She is an avid gardener. Also, she enjoys boating, hiking, and cooking Italian!

  • Nancy Kauder , DVM


    Dr. Kauder is a graduate of the University Of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She received her undergraduate degree in Biology from Columbia University in New York City. She has been practicing veterinary medicine at Eastern Animal Hospital since 1999.

    Dr. Kauder's interests within veterinary medicine include dermatology, animal behavior, and shelter medicine. Currently, she serves as a medical advisor to the Maryland SPCA in addition to her work at Eastern Animal Hospital. Dr. Kauder is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association.

    Dr. Kauder lives in Baltimore with her husband, daughter, son, two cats and a dog. She is an avid reader and also enjoys trips to New York and Washington to see ballet and theater.

  • Alicia McMichael , DVM


     

    Dr Alicia McMichael received her undergraduate degree in Biology from Villa Julie College and her Doctorate for Veterinary Medicine from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation Dr McMichael completed an internship that specializes in emergency medicine.

     

    In addition to her interest in emergency medicine, Dr McMichael is also interested in surgery, behavior and internal medicine. Dr McMichael is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and The Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society.

     

    Dr McMichael currently resides in Anne Arundel with her two cats. In her free time she enjoys reading, swimming and spending time with her friends and family.

  • Laural Casler , DVM


    Dr. Casler received her undergraduate degree in Zoology at the University of California-Davis. She attended Arizona State University, where she studied chimpanzee behavior, and received a Master’s degree in Physical Anthropology. She then completed her veterinary education at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Dr. Casler practiced in the Phoenix area prior to joining Eastern Animal Hospital.

     

    Dr. Casler’s main areas of interest in veterinary medicine are internal medicine, dentistry, and surgery. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association.

     

    Dr. Casler lives in Ellicott City with her dog and cat. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, camping, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

  • Melissa Vetter , VMD


    Dr. Vetter received her undergraduate degree in biology from Hamilton College in Clinton, NY in 1999.  Her career journey began in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry where she worked for several years.  She also worked as a technician for an equine veterinarian which ultimately led to her pursuing her true passion, veterinary medicine. She attended veterinary school at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. She graduated in 2010 with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (VMD).  In the summer of 2010, Dr. Vetter joined the Eastern Animal Hospital team.     

     

    In addition to her focus on small animal medicine and surgery, Dr. Vetter is also interested in rescue and rehabilitation of aquatic animals. She has done veterinary internships working with injured and stranded sea turtles, seals, and sea lions in California and Georgia. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the International Association for Aquatic Animal Medicine.

     

    Dr. Vetter currently lives in Baltimore City and enjoys the activities that city life has to offer. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, camping, going to concerts, cooking, and traveling.

Meet the Staff

  • Carol Linthicum , Hospital Administrator


    Carol has been an intricate part of Eastern Animal Hospital for well over a decade. She has a history of over 35 years managing Veterinary Hospitals. She is a member of the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association, People for the Ethical treatment of Animals (P.E.T.A.), The Humane Society of the United States, The Maryland SPCA and Washington Animal Rescue League. She also represents Eastern in the Bayview Business Association, where she holds the position of vice president.

    Carol has dedicated herself to providing excellent client service and takes great pride in the superior veterinary care and compassion provided by the doctors and staff of Eastern Animal Hospital. She loves her fellow employees. She is admired by many who affectionately call her "Mamabear".

    Carol has a daughter in school in Tampa. She and her husband live with their 5 cats and two amazing Dobermans, "Hogan" and "Hollywood".

  • Kristy Twining , Hospital Manager


    Kristy joined Eastern Animal Hospital in February of 2000. She began as a receptionist and was promoted to Kennel Manager. Kristy was in technical training and doing inventory management when she was promoted to Hospital Manager in March 2005. She is a member of the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association, The Maryland SPCA and Washington Animal Rescue League. Kristy thoroughly enjoys working on the business side of the hospital. 

    Kristy lives with her husband and enjoys spending time with him, their 3 cats; Riley, Whiskey and Dracula, 2 dachshunds; Menudo and Snickers.

  • Nicole Soistman , Tech Supervisor


    Nicole joined EAH in March of 2005. She came to our hospital with several years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant, Veterinary Technician, Hospital Manager and Kennel Manager. Nicole is now the Veterinary Technician supervisor.

    She is married with a wonderful husband and son. She has a Doberman named Scooby, 3 cats and a snake.
