Shannon Amtmann began working at Eastern Animal Hospital in March 2010 as a kennel technician. Her job consisted of, but was not limited to: caring for boarders, admitting/discharging pets, feeding, and walking all pets in our boarding facility. In less than a year she moved up to the night shift comfort care position. This title entailed recovering patients from surgery, assisting technicians with treatments, restraining pets for exams or procedures, and admitting/discharging our hospitalized patients. In May of 2012, she was offered the position of Kennel Manager. This title entails managing budgets, scheduling, training new kennel technicians, keeping the boarding facility running smoothly and cleanly, and all the duties of a kennel technician. During the big move in 2019, Eastern Animal Hospital added on doggie daycare, in which she now manages doggie daycare and kennel.
In her free time, she loves being outdoors, spending time with her wife, reading, watching comedies, and spending lots of time with her three cats. Shannon’s cats are everything to her. Her tabby, Spencer is one of a kind. Lyric, a lynx point Siamese, is as special as they come. Last but not least, Harper (Little Devil) is quite the handful.
Eastern Animal Hospital is Shannon’s second home, even before she was employed here. Shannon states, “I feel an extreme sense of pride saying that I am part of such an amazing animal hospital. We care and it definitely shows!”
